Jeremy Fink, and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass
Jeremy Fink is a 13-year-old boy just a few months before his 14th birthday when this book starts out. His father was killed in a car crash, so he lives with his mother in an apartment complex in the city. His family is very green, and many of the things in their apartment are “Mongos”. Or things found on the side of the street. One day, a package comes that seems very odd. Lizzie and Jeremy open it to find a box, and a letter that was stuffed with news paper from the week of his father’s death. Which was almost 5 years ago. The letter is from a friend of Jeremy’s father, but he does not know him. The letter sais that the sender of the box lost the four keys to the box, and that Jeremy will have to find them. The box is not just an ordinary lock and key one. It has four different key slots, and only those keys will work. If you try to pry it open by force, the contents of the box will be destroyed. Now Jeremy and Lizzie must go on a journey that will have them meet with many interesting people, and there views on the “Meaning of Life”. But there is an interesting twist of things at the very end. I highly recommend this book to any one looking for a fun book to read. It has many good quotes from the characters Jeremy and Lizzie meet. My favorite is one from Mr. Rudolph: “You can count how many seeds are in an apple, but you can not count how many apples are in a seed”.
